SMYAL - Sexual Minority Youth Assistance League

YOUTH ADVOCACY INTERNSHIP

Youth can make a difference.

Through the Youth Advocacy Internship youth will be advocating for the equal rights and treatment of LGBTQ youth. The goal of the Youth Advocacy Internship is to provide opportunities for youth to develop leadership skills, raise awareness about the LGBTQ community, help make safer spaces for LGBTQ youth and allies, and advocate for positive social change.

As a Youth Advocate, youth will be expected to attend weekly meetings on MONDAYS from 6pm to 8pm starting on OCTOBER 19, 2009 and ending in MAY 24, 2010. Throughout the school year interns will learn how to raise awareness about LGBTQ youth needs by educating our community, lobbying government officials, and designing campaigns. The interns will be eligible to receive 90+ community service hours or a monetary stipend of $500 for the six-month commitment.

Check back later for the 2010-2011 application.
