YOUTH ADVOCATES PROGRAM
Mondays 6-8pm
You can make a difference.
End discrimination.
Act now!
Through the Youth Advocates Program (YAP) you will be advocating for the equal rights and treatment of LGBTQ youth. The goal of YAP is to provide opportunities for youth to develop leadership skills, raise awareness about the LGBTQ community, help make safer spaces for LGBTQ youth and allies, and advocate for positive social change.
As a Youth Advocate, you will be expected to attend weekly meetings on MONDAYS from 6pm to 8pm starting on November 5, 2012 and ending in May 2013. This year's program will start out with a free overnight retreat from the evening of November 9th through the 11th to connect with team members and learn about the issues.
Throughout the school year, participants will learn how to raise awareness about LGBTQ youth needs by educating our community, lobbying government officials, and designing campaigns.Your hard work will be rewarded with 90+ community service hours.
