Little SMYALs is a welcoming and affirming social group for LGBTQ+ youth between the ages of 6-13.<\/h5>

Little SMYALs offers a safe space where young people can build community, access helpful resources, and most importantly\u2014have fun!<\/p>

Our engaging programs include fun activities like games, reading books, arts and crafts, and learning about LGBTQ+ history and culture.<\/p>

Little SMYALs Program Information<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Little SMYALs is designed for queer and trans youth in elementary and middle school.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

For youth under 13 years of age, <\/span>parental permission is required to participate in SMYAL\u2019s programs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

We now require any new families interested in joining Little SMYALs to attend a virtual Welcome Session. <\/b>This is a time to meet the staff, ask questions, and get to know our program offerings. These orientation sessions also serve to welcome new families into our network and ensure the safety and security of the community we foster.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

All Little SMYALs programs are cost-free and facilitated by background-checked staff with experience in elementary education.<\/b><\/p>

Little SMYALs hosts twice monthly virtual programs on Wednesday evenings as well as twice monthly in-person programs on Saturdays at SMYAL\u2019s youth center in Washington, DC. Throughout the year, we plan special events and field trips, as well as a summer day camp. Little SMYALs also offers workshops and community for parents and caregivers.<\/span><\/p>

Camp Free2Be<\/strong><\/h4>

During the summer, Little SMYALs hosts Camp Free2Be, a week-long day camp designed for transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive youth.<\/p>

Throughout the week, campers build lasting friendships, celebrate being their authentic selves, and most importantly\u2014have fun!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
