Jordan Clark (he/him), a 2021 graduate of Wakefield High School, is a passionate advocate for the mental and physical health of LGBTQ communities of color. Jordan’s leadership is powerfully rooted in his culture, about which he says that he stands on the shoulders of strong African American people that are confident, kind, and stand for what they believe. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jordan conducted research about the supportive communities Black gay men have found at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), and created an HBCU resource guide for students like him. In the fall, Jordan will be attending Clark Atlanta University, studying psychology and furthering his goal of becoming a mental health provider for LGBTQ communities of color. Jordan’s advice to young queer leaders is to “never give up on what you believe in or your true self, and to love yourself a lot.”
