Maddie Graham (any pronouns), a 2021 graduate of Montgomery Blair High School, is a climate activist and queer woman in STEM. Maddie is a national organizer with Fridays For Future as well as a hub coordinator at the Sunrise Movement. Maddie believes that the people around her are what makes leadership worth it, and that it’s important to let your compassion and love for your community guide your actions. Maddie believes her identity is central to the full picture of her activism and says that “as an out gay leader, I hope I have left other queer people with a visible ally in the fight for climate justice.” In the fall, Maddie will be attending Cardiff University in Wales studying chemistry. The best leadership advice that Maddie has ever received, from a senior climate activist, is that “we’re united as a community, and we are going to win.”
