James van Kuilenburg is a trans youth advocate in his school and community. He is the founding president of his school’s GSA, as well as the grassroots trans advocacy group, Support FCPS Trans Students. In 2017, he led the charge in his community to pass the most trans-inclusive school policy in the nation. James has authored sensitivity trainings for other community organizations, and often works with the local teachers’ union to promote a dialogue about LGBTQ student issues. In his future work, James hopes to bring light to the transgender experience.
