House Monitor Manager/ Operations Assistant
India was born and raised in Washington, DC and loves her city. India previously worked for the Salvation Army ( Harbor Lights Center ) residential in/outpatient drug treatment program. She was the Front Desk Associate and a House Monitor. It’s there that she realized that working with the co-occurring population was her passion. She absolutely loves helping people no matter their circumstances.
It was at the Salvation Army that India had the opportunity to work with the LGBTQ population and it made her realize that our city needs more programs that are geared to that population and that’s where she wanted to work. Having joined SMYAL in 2020, India worked as a House Monitor where she monitored the residents for any unusual activity, being a listening ear, and giving the occasional hug when needed. Newly promoted to House Monitor Manager/ Operations Assistant, India coordinates the daily operation of the facilities, including adherence to house rules and regulations. She also provides training for new House Monitors and manages their performance thereafter as well as making regular house check inspections inside the building for any safety issues.
In her free time, India absolutely loves spending time with family and friends, playing cards, and eating some good food.
