Lucy Chamberlain (she/her) steps up to the plate to lead when she sees the opportunity. Upon returning from a State Department overseas study program in Taiwan, Lucy opened a Sunrise Movement hub at her school after graduating from a Sunrise Movement environmental advocacy training program. She also fulfilled a leadership role in her debate team when there was a sudden opening, creating lesson plans, leading practice rounds, and organizing tournament logistics. Most notably, Lucy joined the Mikva Challenge in the fall of 2022—an organization that centers youth voice in civic engagement. Her advocacy also extends to the Student Board of Education’s Student Advisory Committee to push for more equitable access to the public schools in the District. Lucy plans to bring her goal of maintaining interconnectedness within the LGBTQ+ community with her to UPenn this fall, where she will major in Urban Studies.
