Tavar is a Housing Case Manager in SMYAL’s transitional youth housing program. Prior to coming to SMYAL, he was working at the Ali Forney Center specifically in Transgender Housing serving trans youth between the ages of 16-21.
Tavar’s passion lies within LGBTQIA advocacy, especially within Black/Brown communities. Tavar was born in Brooklyn, New York but spent the majority of his childhood in Guyana. When he’s not wearing his social work hat, Tavar enjoys spending his free time traveling the world and experiencing new cultures. One of his favorite places I’ve been to is Egypt visiting one of the seventh wonders of the world.
