Tim is SMYAL’s Director of HR & Operations. Originally from the small town of Defiance, Ohio, he earned his degree in Human Dimensions in Natural Resources from The Ohio State University, focusing on education, communications, and interpretation through non-formal educational programming. He arrived in the DMV in 2007 via the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington as the Summer Camp Director, then ultimately the Educational Retreat Center Director at Camp Letts. Through his years at Camp Letts, he introduced queer safe spaces and helped planned the first same-sex marriage wedding and reception at Camp Letts shortly after marriage equality in Maryland.
When not at SMYAL, Tim can be found hiking one of the many trails in the area looking for those elusive warblers, planning his next woodworking project, or practicing his German.
