In accordance with DC law, individuals 13 years and older can be tested for HIV without parental consent. Those 15 years or older can receive PReP and PEP referrals and treatments without parental consent.
These services are reflective of SMYAL’s commitment to providing accessible, youth-focused reproductive justice options to young LGBTQ+ people in the DC Metropolitan region. Check out the links below for more resources and information.
According to SisterSong, an organization founded to center the experiences and voices of indigenous women, trans people, and women of color, reproductive justice can be defined as “the human right to maintain personal bodily autonomy, have children, not have children, and parent the children we have in safe and sustainable communities.
Interested in public health? Passionate about Sex Ed? LGBTQ youth ages 13-24 are encouraged to apply to be a Peer Health Fellow today!
During this paid fellowship, Fellows will conduct workshops, connect peers to resources, and break down barriers to accessing comprehensive healthcare in their own schools and communities.
